Richland County Republican Party Chairman, 1986-1997; Chairman, Richland County Public Defender Corporation, 1994-1995. 

Member of: South Carolina Bar, 1977 ; Richland County and American Bar Associations; U.S. District Court, District of South Carolina; U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit. 

Appointed as Interim Commissioner to the Public Service Commission of South Carolina July 2, 1999.
Served until February 29, 2000.
